In the background, the silhouette of Mount Ararat rises against the rising sun. The obverse bears the coat of arms of the Republic of Armenia.

Mount Ararat is no random choice: according to the Bible, Noah’s Ark came to rest in this mountain range after the Great Flood. Even today, the striking peak remains the national symbol of Armenia – it can be seen from the capital, Yerevan, on a clear day.

The coin was struck by Geiger Edelmetalle on behalf of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia, which granted the exclusive right to mint it.
